Miroslav, you are right and I was confused about when the engine kick back damages the starter, The only time that kick back would effect the starter is when the starter button is in use, so this means any way of shut down cannot damage the starter.

You are right, shutting down the engine with; the key kill switch, or side stand switch in essence all do the same thing, by disconnecting the electricity.

I had been experiencing a kick back for an entirely different reason with an entirely different means of killing the engine. I had been leaving the clutch out in low gear at idle and thus stopping the engine. This method did cause a kick back and is not a good method. I do not use this method any more.--- I do use the side stand method to insure that I park in gear, as does Frank Moss.
